Our mission is to empower youth, through photography, to experience their world in new ways and to express their voice creatively.

Camera Recycle Project is a youth-led social enterprise and recycling initiative that aims to abolish the digital divide, recycle the 10 million cameras that have been purchased in Australia since 2009, and ensure these cameras are available in technology libraries to all young people in Australia.

We also dream big!

We collect unwanted cameras in the community and put them in the hands of low-income, at-risk youth providing them with high quality mentors and creating a strong community of support. Through photography our students find their voice, identity, creativity and allow us to see our community through their eyes.

  • We work with youth, 12-26 years of age, who due to poverty or disengagement don't have access to technology, specifically cameras.

  • Since 2009 Camera Recycle Project has had over 1000 youth go through our free youth development photography program.
